Banana Jones Slots

Banana Jones Slots is a quirky little Ape game that features cartoon animals and loads of charm. It looks like nothing we have ever seen, and while not exceedingly high budget, it still manages to pack a lot of punch into each and every pixel. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with it, mostly wishing that they had added some more fun and quirky characters, and taken a little more from the obviously Donkey Kong Country inspired graphics based on some of Rare’s best work. Yep, we noticed guys!

Premise

The premise of Banana Jones Slots is basically Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. They took that art style and ran with it in slot form, going so far that it left a smile on our faces. To their credit, it still manages to stand well on its own, and it doesn’t look at all ‘ripped off’, more like inspired. We still enjoyed recognizing the reference, and think anyone that was around during that time will get a kick out of the way this game looks too.

Presentation

Graphics in Banana Jones Slots are pretty great, and easily the star of the show. Everything is crisp, clear, colorful, and compelling to look at, which makes your time spent playing all the easier because of how easy they are on the eyes. We really enjoy the UI too, which ties it all together in a fitting way that we can’t really express our appreciate for in words alone.

The look of things is taken from an old SNES game that was praised at the time, and it still holds up really well today for anyone to see.

Mechanics

Gameplay in Banana Jones Slots is fairly standard. At 5 reels and 15 pay lines, it does not break the mold there, chosing instead to keep things classy in ways we can respect.

Betting here ranges from a penny to $10, making this an accessible slot that anyone can jump into in hopes of winning a lot of money without worrying about necessarily breaking the bank in the process. Max bets cap out at around $100, which tends to be how we rolled when we played it a bunch for our review. The top multiplier is 2,565 times your initial bet, which is pretty decent. Just as Donkey Kong intended we would say.

Who is this Game For?

This game is suitable for players of all types. In particular, it should appeal to:

* Players new to digital slots and looking for something relatively accessible * Moderate intensity players that have gotten their feet plenty wet in the online slots world and are looking for something a little more involved * Jaded slot vets * People that mostly want to win a bunch of money playing digital slot games * Players looking for slot nostalgia for the similarities and differences this slot has to other games * People more used to normal video games that are looking to get their feet wet in the world of online slots

Who is the Game NOT For?

Although we enjoy this slot, it is not for everybody. In particular, it may not be your cup of tea if this describes you in any fashion:

* Averse to winning money online * Looking for something truly innovative in the genre * You find the theme in any way offputting

Is it Buggy?

In the time we spent playing this game, we did not encounter any bugs, problems, or errors. The same cannot be said for all slots of this genre, so we commend the developers for a job well done on that. We also encountered no issues in processing winnings or payments, and everything ran very smooth just like you would expect across many varied devices in a variety of ecosystems and operating systems.

Conclusion

Banana Jones Slots is a surprise Donkey Kong Country themed slot that we feel anyone and everyone can have a good time with. We can’t think of much to fault here that we don’t fault a lot, such as the limited bonus rounds and somewhat standard gameplay. It still is a blast to play, however, mostly benefitting from the fast pacing and good multipliers. If you are at all interested in it based on the screenshots, or are an SNES buff that wants to earn money in their free time, both are good excused to click past this text and jump into the game. We can’t say this is the greatest slot ever, but it does what it does well enough to have staying power and leave a positive taste in your mouth, much like a good banana found in the jungle as DK is swinging through.
